It's All Over but the Dying
Headline on the ABC News web site:
Majority Expect U.S. Will 'Lose' in Iraq
And the rest of us believe the war is already lost.
The debate over withdrawal deadlines is a sideshow. it's time to face facts and minimize the senseless loss of life, and get out of there as quickly and as safely as possible.
Comments
Their poll results showing a small majority favor a troop withdrawal deadline is the exception. Pew, CNN, and other polls showed a strong majority favored the deadline.
Either way, as you said, it's time to minimize the senseless loss of life and get out of there.

I don't think setting a deadline is practical. It seems like nothing more than way of kidding ourselves that we can still win this. We can't.
But if I had to choose between a plan that sets a deadline and no plan for getting out at all, I'd choose the former. Maybe that's what people are thinking.

You know if we pulled out right now, I'd consider it a win.
We lose and the Iraqis lose, if we stay.

Every time the preznut open his mouth, support for his war policy drops. So says the latest Wash Post/ABC News poll.
Too bad the news media covering Washington still think it's 2003 in the way they're covering the stand-off between Congress and the WH. John Roberts said on CNN that "the president has the upper hand in the iraq war debate." Despite the fact the preznut has 30%-35% approval and his policy is less popular each time people are polled, this is what Roberts reported.
Sheesh.

Great comment. Love the tight style.

Kvatch, I agree. The only winners here are going to be the oil companies and vultures like Halliburton.
Ditto that sheesh, rbe. It amazes me what people get away with saying in the face of contrary facts, which you outlined pretty well on your blog yesterday, btw.
Hey, Cartledge. Welcome back. And thanks.

I think Reid made a tactical error by saying "The war is lost..." in the Senate.
The better way to frame it is "The preznut has lost the war..."

"The preznut has lost the war..."
Absolutely, RBE. Great comment.
