Palestinian Schism
Just when you think things can't get any worse in the Middle East:
We now have two Palestinian governments and still no nation of Palestine.
The MSM pronounces the democratically elected Hamas as the bad guys here, but Robert Fisk asks a hell of a good question:
How do we deal with a coup d’état by an elected government?

"We now have two Palestinian governments and still no nation of Palestine."
Bush's democracy movement has really brought a lot of stability to the region.

Sure has. And resuming support for just part of the Palestinian population while continuing to punish the rest is going to make things so much better.

I have to admit the politics over there confuse me a bit. If we had no intention of honoring their democratic process (once it became clear it didn't turn out the way we wanted), then why did we bother to go through the motions? It just keeps ticking them off that we do stuff like that, not that I can blame them.

You're right, Kathy. There should be no Mulligans in a democracy.
