Anyone Surprised?
If so, I can get you a helluva deal on a war with Iran.
Looks like America's passion for the rule of law died out with the Clinton Administration. Perjury, obstruction of justice, and lying to investigators — who were investigating nothing less than the deliberate outing of an active CIA agent — are not such a big deal in the new America.
I'm no fan of the CIA and its family jewels. It's gone way beyond the investigative body it was chartered to be. But its investigative function is vital to our national security, and Bush's pardon-in-all-but-name is a contemptuous slap in the face to people who risk their lives in our name.
If the CIA isn't already hopelessly demoralized by the events of the last six years, this ought to do it.

Anyone Surprised? Not really, was just a matter of how long it took.

Not a surprise, but the timing was. It came literally hours after 3 appeal court judges (two Repubs/1 Dem) said Scooter had to go to jail pending appeal. As someone on my site noted in comments, Bushie sure didn't react this quickly for New Orleans. I think only Teri Schiavo got this kind of treatment!

I agree with both of you - this was inevitable. And yet, I have to keep hoping there is a limit to this admin's arrogance and gall. I guess we haven't reached it yet.
