I hear you, Kathy. But I'm excited by this nomination. I've been voting for presidents since 1972, and this is the first mainstream candidate in all that time who I think actually means what he says, and has the leadership to deliver.
But you are right about the caption. I'll fix it. Thanks...
Kathy, to follow up, by the "long national nightmare," I don't mean just the Bush years, or even the time since Ford spoke those words after Watergate. I don't think we've had good leadership in this country, and felt genuine hope about the future, since JFK's time. The national nightmare extends back to Johnson's time and Vietnam.
Over?! I'd say its only just begun. The swift-boating Republicans haven't even warmed up yet.
Indeed! Obama's gonna need a political machine with the deftness of Bill Clinton's first campaign to keep the 'Thuglican attack dogs at bay. I think he's up to it, but Democrats are going to have to get nasty when it comes to framing the debate, and traditionally they hate...really hate doing that.
Yes, just the nomination is stunning if you're old enough to remember watching George Wallace standing with arms crossed in front of a school door.
As for November, I just don't see how this insipid, old-school McCain, who seems not to have much of a grasp of the issues, can beat someone as inspirational and sharp as Obama. But this is coming from someone who thought that spoiled, bratty boy pretending to be a man - George Bush - couldn't possibly win in 2000.

Win or lose, it's still historic.
