Uh-Oh
I've had time to hear just snippets of Sarah Palin's speech last night, but what snippets they were. She had the delegates roaring and cheering like frat boys watching Paris Hilton's videos.
As we've all learned so painfully over the last 8 years (at least), political reality doesn't have to bear any resemblance whatsoever to actual reality. Perception is what matters.
And last night, the perception was that Sarah Palin is the long-lost, long-awaited daughter of Ronald Reagan. She is The One.
Does it matter that her speech and others were marked by less-than-truthful claims? Time will tell.
But I'm starting to wonder whether McCain's VP choice was made out of desperation, or the genius of never underestimating the gullibility of the American people.
