Suck It Up, Joe the Plumber

Joe the Plumber is what is wrong with America.

At last night's presidential debate, McCain talked about poor Joe the Plumber, who will have to pay more taxes if he buys that business he's been eyeing.

Joe the Plumber is anything but poor. Obama's tax plan will raise taxes on small businesses that make more than $250,000 in profit. If Joe can swing that, he's doing pretty damn well, and he should stop whining about the higher taxes that go along with being among the highest earners in the country.

Update:It turns out that Joe the Plumber doesn't actually have a plumber's license, and he's "not even close" to pulling in $250,000 or buying a plumbing business. In 2006, he earned $40,000. In other words, "Joe" (real name is Samuel) is one of millions of conservative dupes who's been bamboozled into voting against his own best interests.

Comments

I think you would have to be concerned by McCain's record of choices. From personnel to policy he's taken some remarkably disastrous directions.

He sure has. And that tells you all you need to know about Mr. McCain.

Joe might have been duped, but I'm beginning to think he was a plant. It turns out Joe is a close relative of Charles Keating's son-in-law, and in 1986 Keating wrote McCain and said, "You can call me anything, write anything or do anything. I'm yours till death do us part."

Kathy, that's quite an interesting connection. What a coincidence, eh? - or not. ;-)
