Arlen Specter's Party of Me
Arlen "Switcheroo" Specter caused a bit of a hubbub on Sunday when he said he never told the president he'd be a loyal Democrat.
But that isn't the part of David Gregory's interview that bothers me. This is what bothers me:
GREGORY: Would you support health care reform that puts up a government-run public plan to complete with a private plan issued by a private insurance company?
SPECTER: No.
Any chance the Republicans will take this guy back in return for, say, a small box of magic bullets?

That's what bothered me about Specter too. I hope a strong Democrat decides to run against him. Pennsylvanians favor public health care reform and I think they'll have the good sense to send him packing.

I hope so too, Kathy. I've heard that Obama committed to support Specter's re-election if Specter switched. I hope it's not true, because if it is, the Dems aren't getting what they bargained for.

And now he says he supports Coleman efforts to hold onto his seat in MN. Specter always talked from both sides. He appeased democrats but voted with Republicans. The opposite of Leiberman who is himself not worthy of holding a senate seat. The Unions should come out strong against Spector and tell Gov Rendell no deal at election time, they're running their own candidate.

Lev, I just don't get this guy. Why would any democrat vote for him if none of his positions have changed - just because he now has a D after his name? Maybe he things Pennsylvania voters just aren't too bright.

Now the big question is: Is he ketchup or mustard?

Pretty sad commentary, eh Cart?

Abi, I'm still getting over the north American fridge full of condiments personally. Arguing politics on the basis of condiments s a worry.

Cart, I'm tempted to say that we like to put a little mustard on our political arguments. But as far as Hannity goes, it just shows how far into irrelevance the Republican right has sunk.
