Maybe the Massachusetts slap in the face was just what Barack Obama needed.

Maybe. But I don't see it changing his plans to bust unions and privatize education, much beloved by the Republicans. Arne Duncan just said publicly that Hurricane Katrina was the best thing to happen to education in New Orleans.

A blogger pointed out that the deaths of so many low achievers would definitely raise test scores.

Maybe good for Obama--but I'm not at all convinced Obama is good for the country.

I'm not convinced of that either. I've still got my doubts about him. But taking on a roomful of republicans and essentially scolding them as he did, and throwing facts at their talking points, showed some real leadership. He needs to do a lot more of that kind of thing.
