Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) unveiled her so-called “Green New Deal” on Thursday — and it’s even more insane than anyone predicted.
One of the most outlandish provisions in the proposed legislation is “economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work.”
You read that right. People who are “unwilling” to work would be entitled to benefits under Ocasio-Cortez’s socialist wishlist.
This is a good representation of almost every American when they first read the Green New Deal:
However, there are trillions of dollars worth of initiatives in the proposed legislation, including “Medicare for all.”
“The right to quality health care which will be achieved through a single-payer Medicare-for-All program,” the proposal states.
Also included is free education, right to “decent affordable housing,” and an entire list of mandates on “green energy.”
“In very broad strokes, the Green New Deal legislation laid out by Ocasio-Cortez and Markey sets goals for some drastic measures to cut carbon emissions across the economy, from electricity generation to transportation to agriculture. In the process, it aims to create jobs and boost the economy,” NPR reported.
The report continues: “In that vein, the proposal stresses that it aims to meet its ambitious goals while paying special attention to groups like the poor, disabled and minority communities that might be disproportionately affected by massive economic transitions like those the Green New Deal calls for.”
Fortunately for all Americans and the U.S. economy, it’s unlikely that it will go anywhere in Congress. Additionally, it’s only a nonbinding resolution, meaning it wouldn’t actually create any new programs.
Once again, no one is taking the socialist Democrat seriously.
