Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) pitched her new “big” idea to have the government run a new non-profit banking system.
As if the socialist idea wasn’t ridiculous enough, the Democrat also suggested that the new government-run banking program be run by the U.S. Postal Service.
“We should have a not-for-profit public option for basic banking services, and we should be piloting these projects through the U.S. Postal Service,” AOC said.
One significant detail that she failed to mention: the U.S. Postal Service lost $3.9 billion in 2018. And that’s who she wants handling the American banking system?
The mockery on Twitter from Americans across the country was swift and brutal.
“The reliably dumb @AOC wants to turn banking services over to the US Post Office, which didn’t even offer overnight delivery until the private company FedEx came along,” Dinesh D’Souza tweeted. “What’s next? Turn airplane manufacturing over to the DMV?”
However, AOC doubled down on her big government plan, accusing Republicans of causing the Postal Service to fail.
“GOP is talking smack about the Post Office (of course, since they have no ideas),” she tweeted.
She continued: “The funny thing about that: it‘s the GOP’s own ‘business model’ that hurt them! They forced USPS to prefund pensions decades out (which makes NO sense & no solvent biz does)instead of year to year.”
Like Trump said, America will never be a socialist nation.
