Amidst the many trending news topics of the day, little attention is often paid to the continuing bathroom/locker room battle to protect the dignity and safety of women who don’t want to share facilities with men who claim to be women.
It’s an especially relevant battle for women who have experienced sexual assault. That’s the case with a Florida woman who is suing Planet Fitness, a national gym chain, because she said they banned her. Why? Because she complained about having to share the women’s locker room with a man, according to Life Site News.

The evangelical Christian Liberty Counsel took up the woman’s case. They said the woman — identified as Mrs. H — approached a man who was “applying makeup” in the mirror of the women’s locker room and asked him to leave. She said the mirror gave him a clear view of the locker area where women were changing and the shower area.
“When Mr. Rice refused to leave, Mrs. H. herself left to give him time to finish what he was doing, so she could use the restroom in privacy. Mr. Rice remained there for at least an hour, ‘applying makeup,’ to intentionally deny Mrs. H. the privacy she desired,” Liberty Counsel said in a letter sent to the Planet Fitness CEO.
They also said that the man — Jordan “Ivy” Rice — enacted retaliation on Mrs. H by calling the police on her, claiming she had “sexually harassed” him. Mrs. H herself survived an attempted rape in the past.
Mrs. H said Planet Fitness tore up her membership because she complained repeatedly about the incident while in the presence of other female patrons. The Liberty Counsel is arguing that Mrs. H is being discriminated against because of her gender and that her “legal and privacy rights” were violated by the company.
Liberty Counsel told the CEO that “Planet Fitness must immediately reinstate Mrs. H’s membership, and make changes to its membership and locker room policies to prevent blatant sex-based harassment by males in the women’s lockers and restrooms.”
They added that, “This is not the only incident with Mr. Rice known to Planet Fitness. Another woman reported that he [Rice] exposed his naked body to her in the women's locker room at this location. In another instance, he was involved in an argument with another woman over use of the tanning room.”
“Planet Fitness is endangering women by allowing men to sexually harass them in the women's facilities and punishing those who object,” the Counsel added.
