One week before the vital Nov. 6 midterm elections, Ben & Jerry’s released their own “October surprise” in hopes of getting more people to vote Democrats into office and turn Congress against President Trump.
And it’s melting faster than a snowflake under pressure.
“Today we launch Pecan Resist! This flavor supports groups creating a more just and equitable nation for us all, and who are fighting President Trump’s regressive agenda,” the Vermont-based company announced on Twitter Tuesday morning.
“Together pecan resist,” a promotional video for the new ice cream flavor declares before showing clips of Democrat marches.
The company clarified a little more on their website, stating that:
“Alongside all those nutty chunks, this pint packs a powerful message under its lid: together, we can build a more just and equitable tomorrow. We can peacefully resist the Trump administration’s regressive and discriminatory policies and build a future that values inclusivity, equality, and justice for people of color, women, the LGBTQ community, refugees, and immigrants. Pecan Resist supports four organizations that are working on the front lines of the peaceful resistance, building a world that supports their values.”
Money from purchases of Pecan Resist will go to Color of Change, Honor the Earth, Neta, and the Women’s March.
Ben & Jerry’s got royally mocked and criticized on Twitter, with the vast majority of comments being negative toward the highly political flavor:
By the end of the day next Tuesday, Pecan Resist might taste a little too much like liberal tears.
