Beto O’Rourke Releases His Tax Returns, and it’s a Horrible, Horrible Mistake

Democratic presidential hopeful Robert “Beto” O’Rourke followed the recent blue candidate trend of releasing his tax returns from the past ten years. But now it’s being revealed to have been a horrible mistake.

There’s more than one problem with Beto’s and his wife’s tax returns, and they certainly don’t fit well with the Democrat Party’s latest progressive, socialist bent.

According to Fox News, it appears that the O’Rourkes underpaid on their taxes by more than $4,000 dollars over the course of 2013 and 2014. The underpayment seems to be connected to mistakes made during the reporting of their income.

A Beto aide said, “After becoming aware of this error, the accounting firm that prepared the filings was immediately informed and will file an amendment as appropriate.”

The bigger issue, though, appears to be the O’Rourkes’ minimal amount of charitable giving. People are pointing out that Democrats who are all about redistributing other people’s wealth to the poor.

James Hohmann of the Washington Post noted that Beto “and his wife gave $1,166 to charity out of their $370,412 income in 2017. That’s one-third of 1%. It puts them at the bottom of 2020 Dems who have released taxes.”

That prompted quite a reaction on social media.

Hohmann also reported on the percentage of charitable giving from several other Democrat presidential candidates who have released their tax returns. Beto truly did rank at the bottom, even worse than Kamala Harris.

Some people pointed out that it’s none of anyone’s business how much money a person donates or not, because it’s charity. But for Democrats who push for taxpayer-required charity in the form of government handouts, it’s not a great look.

And it’s another gaffe for Beto’s already gaffe-filled campaign.
