Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke is taking an extreme position on abortion, defending late-term abortion up until the point of birth.

A woman asked O’Rourke the loaded question during a campaign event in Cleveland on Monday, first telling him that there is not a “medical necessity” for late-term abortion.

“So, in that sense, if there was an emergency, the doctors would just do a [caesarian]-section, and you don't have to kill the baby in that essence,” she said. “So, are you for or against third-trimester abortions?"

"The question is about abortion and reproductive rights. And, my answer to you is, that should be a decision the woman makes. I trust her," O’Rourke responded. ”So that's my answer."

Beto might be surprised to learn that outside of his bubble, only 13 parent of Americans support any kind of late-term abortion.

“Gallup finds that 60 percent of Americans believe abortion generally should be legal during the first three months of pregnancy, known as the first trimester. That support drops by more than half, to 28 percent, once a pregnancy reaches the second trimester; it falls to 13 percent in the third trimester, at which point the fetus is often viable with medical support,” NPR previously reported.

The Democrat’s position is not going to play very well in the 2020 election.

He was given a second opportunity to explain his radical views on late-term abortion at Penn State on Tuesday, and he doubled down.

“I think those decisions are best left to a woman and her doctor. I know better than to assume anything about a woman’s decision... when it comes her to reproductive rights," O'Rourke said.
