Brandon Straka is leading a movement encouraging liberals to abandon the Democratic Party and liberalism as it moves further away from its original purpose.
The so-called #WalkAway social media campaign has gone viral, largely due to Straka’s viral video explaining his decision to abandon liberalism.

“Once upon a time, I was a liberal,” Straka says in the video. “To be honest, less than a year ago, I was still a liberal. I became a liberal because I felt I’d found a tribe with values that align with my own. I staunchly reject racism of any kind; I reject the marginalization of any human being based on their gender or sexual orientation; I reject tyrannical groupthink.”
Straka goes on to explain how modern-day liberalism is embracing all of those things.
“These are the reasons why I became a liberal, and these are the same reasons why I am now walking away,” he says.
Straka, a gay hairdresser and actor, spoke to Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Tuesday where he assured the conservative commentator that he is sincere in his change of heart.
“Matter of fact, I welcome anyone to go to my Facebook page where I still have videos up from 2016 in which I’m crying because Hillary Clinton didn’t get elected,” he said. “I was devastated. This is very, very real.”
Straka said when he released his viral #WalkAway video a few months ago, he was more worried about the “name-calling” and nasty rhetoric. Today, he’s actually concerned about violence.
“It’s already changed in just two months,” he added. “Now I’m actually worried that we may be on the brink of a very violent episode.”
