Hollywood actress Mila Kunis — best known for her roles in “Black Swan,” “Jupiter Ascending,” and “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” — decided to play a prank on Vice President Mike Pence by donating money to Planned Parenthood in his name.
“I put him on a list of recurring donations made in his name to Planned Parenthood,” she explained to late night TV host Conan O’Brien, according to the IndyStar. “Every month to his office, he gets a little letter that says like 'an anonymous donation has been made in your name.'”
“I don’t look it as a prank,” she clarified. "I strongly disagree and this is my little way of showing it. It’s a peaceful protest.”
There’s nothing peaceful about babies being killed in Planned Parenthood’s abortion clinics, though. And her words led to a boycott of Jim Beam bourbon, which she’s the spokeswoman for, especially after other celebrities joined her protest by pranking Pence the same way with tens of thousands of dollars in donations, the Courier-Journal reported.
Kunis recently told podcaster Marc Maron that she thinks her prank is “not that big of a deal. I thought it was a funny joke.”
Her callousness in addressing such a controversial topic like abortion was shocking. But her next words indicated that she may not be aware inside of her liberal Hollywood bubble that abortion is controversial.
"So then people started giving donations to the opposing side, which I didn’t even know that there was one. OK, I don’t want to promote it, whatever it is," she said, revealing no knowledge of the pro-life movement or the millions of pro-life advocates in America besides Pence.
More than half of Americans oppose abortion, according to poll results published by the Washington Times, and 76 percent of Americans polled at least want far more limits placed on it.
And then Kunis said, "In return, I was like, at least I’m proud of people for putting their money where their mouth is. So like, OK, donate to your cause. If you really want this one thing to succeed, go ahead. I’m not mad at it. I was, you know, actually pretty impressed with people trying to like get one on top of me."
She also told Maron that her donations to the abortion clinic in Pence’s name are still going on.
