CNN’s perennially liberal anchor Chris Cuomo is being accused of mocking a rape survivor on Wednesday who wished that she had been armed.

It all started when the NRA posted a video by rape victim and nationally acclaimed rape survivor advocate Kimberly Corban speaking about how she’ll never be unarmed again.

As a 20-year-old college student, Corban was attacked in her off-campus apartment by a stranger and held for two hours. She reported the crime to the police, resulting in her attacker’s arrest and long prison sentence, according to the Greeley Tribune.

She shared her terrifying story in the video, saying, “For the next two hours, I knew I was going to die. And there was nothing I could do.”

“Now I’m a mother of two,” Corban continued. “And if that predator, or anyone else, tries to harm me or my family, they have to come through my firearm first.”

“I will never be unarmed and utterly vulnerable ever again.”

“The only reason I can say that is that the NRA fought for my rights before I ever knew that I needed them,” she concluded. “I’m the National Rifle Association of America, and I’m freedom’s safest place.”

“Only in America,” Cuomo replied without further explanation.

Based on Cuomo’s previous arguments for increased gun control, according to The Hill, many people took what he said as bitingly sarcastic and accused him of mocking a woman who had survived rape.

Corban herself was confused by his remark and asked to talk to him about it.
