President Donald Trump caused a meltdown at CNN after he declared that “the fake news” is the nation’s “biggest enemy.”
“So funny to watch the Fake News, especially NBC and CNN. They are fighting hard to downplay the deal with North Korea. 500 days ago they would have “begged” for this deal-looked like war would break out,” Trump tweeted. “Our Country’s biggest enemy is the Fake News so easily promulgated by fools!”
CNN anchor Brian Stelter lost his composure on the air and attacked the president for speaking out against fake news, which he perceives as an attack on the press as a whole.
“The president is on Twitter right now saying CNN and other networks are the ‘greatest enemy’ the American people have,” Stelter said. “That is absolutely disgusting! Disgusting!”
He went on to argue that checks and balances on the executive branch worked in the case of AT&T’s massive merger with Time Warner.
“You know what’s interesting? Checks and balances worked,” he added. “The judiciary looked at this, a neutral party looked at this case and found it was not anti-competitive and if there was interference – and if the president’s fingerprints are on this – it doesn’t work.”
CNN also ran a breaking news banner dripping with bias.
“TRUMP'S 24 HOURS: I TRUST NORTH KOREAN DICTATOR, U.S. PRESS IS ENEMY,” the banner said.
Do you agree with Trump that "fake news" is a threat to the American people?
