CNN’s usually stoic news anchor, Jake Tapper, blew up with anger during a commercial break last week when the clips he wanted to air were not shown on his show “The Lead.”
During the broadcast last Tuesday, Tapper wanted to cover President Donald Trump’s press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, specifically when Trump doubted the US intelligence report that Russia meddled in the 2016 election.
Tapper had three clips in mind for the show to be shown in chronological order. The first clip was Trump telling Putin at the press conference that he didn’t “see any reason why it would be Russia” meddling in the election.
The second clip was Trump’s statement made later that he meant to say “I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be Russia.”
The third was Trump saying he accepts that Russia did meddle in the election but that there “could be other people also.”
It was that third and final clip that caused all the trouble. “I’d like to play that clip,” said Tapper before a long and awkward pause as the clip was not played.
Watch the news clip below that caused his outburst.
During the next commercial break, sources say that Tapper went ballistic, yelling at his entire staff for the error and for not reading his emails.
According to one source, Tapper was “unhinged” and went “bananas” during the outburst.
Update America will be sure to share the video of the rant if it ever gets released.
