Dean Martin’s daughter, Deana Martin, responded to the liberal outrage over the classic Christmas song “Baby It’s Cold Outside” after activists claimed it was promoting sexual harassment.
Taking a defiant tone, Deana Martin told Fox News she plans to continue singing the classic song.
“’Baby It’s Cold Outside’ is a cute, flirtatious and romantic song written by Frank Loesser in 1944,” she told Fox News.
She added: “It won the Oscar for ‘Best Original Song’ in the 1949 film ‘Neptune’s Daughter.’ It’s been recorded by dozens of the world’s top recording artists for over 60 years, including my dad Dean Martin… This song is included in his very successful 1959 ‘Winter Romance’ album and I’m very proud that it has become an evergreen favorite that is played every holiday season.”
She ended with a line that’s sure to melt snowflakes everywhere.
“I personally love performing ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ and will continue to do so. Merry Christmas!” Deana Martin said.
Several radio stations have stopped playing the Christmas classic altogether after a small number of listeners complained.
WDOK Christmas 102.1 repeatedly pulled the song after just one person claimed it wasn’t appropriate. Several polls from listeners show how the country really feels about the song, however.
Listen to the song below:
KOSI 101 in Denver found out that 95 percent of their listeners were in favor of continuing to play the song.
“Respondents voted 95% in favor of us keeping the song as part of KOSI 101.1’s tradition of playing all of your holiday favorites,”the station’s program director said. “While we are sensitive to those who may be upset by some of the lyrics, the majority of our listeners have expressed their interpretation of the song to be non-offensive.”
It’s never a good idea to bow to the liberal mob.
