With few options left, Democrats have hit peak desperation in the effort to prevent Judge Brett Kavanaugh from being confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court.

On Thursday, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) confirmed she has turned over a “secret letter” about Kavanaugh to the FBI.

“I have received information from an individual concerning the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court," Feinstein said in a statement. "That individual strongly requested confidentiality, declined to come forward or press the matter further, and I have honored that decision. I have, however, referred the matter to federal investigative authorities.”

"Senate Democrats on the Judiciary Committee have referred a letter concerning Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh to the FBI," BuzzFeed News reported.

The report added, "The contents of the letter have been closely guarded by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee, as well as California Rep. Anna Eshoo, who originally received the letter and shared it with Feinstein, according to sources familiar with the matter. But whispers of what it contains have made the rounds across Capitol Hill over the past week."

While Feinstein’s statement is clearly meant to convey the matter is serious and possibly criminal, she offered absolutely no information about the matter or whether it’s credible at all.

That fact wasn't lost on Ben Shapiro and others.

The lawyer believed to be representing the woman behind the "secret letter," Debra Katz, said "there’s nothing to say" when asked about the matter.

BuzzFeed News was unable to confirm the contents of the letter.

Is this just a desperate attempt to smear Kavanaugh ahead of his confirmation vote?
