In the era of “fake news,” Elle magazine took the cake by posting a dishonest-to-goodness false story in order to drive their liberal readers to the polls.
Just take a look:
In a tweet that was still live at 5 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, Elle claimed that celebrity superstar couple Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West were calling it quits with their marriage. The tweet included a story link, according to The Hill.
Where does the link go? Directly to a voter registration page that also links to their campaign volunteer and donation pages — all presumably attached to Democratic voting efforts.
Talk about dirty. Add the fact that they also slandered the marriage of a vocal President Trump supporter and his wife, and it all seems highly calculated — and libelous.
To say that Elle sparked a firestorm of backlash for their political and completely un-journalistic stunt would be an understatement. Some liberals actually rushed to defend Elle, calling their post “satire” even though they’re not a satire publication.
But many commenters on Elle’s Twitter post understood it for what is really is — a desperate 11th-hour attempt to get their liberal readers to register to vote Democrat before the Nov. 6 midterm elections.
