President Donald Trump invited “Angel Families” of loved ones killed by illegal immigrants to speak to the media and the American public.
"We're gathered today to hear directly from the American victims of illegal immigration. You know, you hear the other side, you never hear this side,” Trump said. “These are the American citizens permanently separated from their loved ones. The word 'permanently' being the word."
One Angel Family father, Steve Ronnebeck, had an emotional story to tell. Watch him share his son’s story in the video below.
Here’s what he had to say:
“January 22, 2015, my son was at work, at his overnight shift. An illegal alien came in and wanted to buy cigarettes and dumped a jar of change on the counter. Grant went to count the change and wasn’t counting fast enough.
“So basically, this man pulled a gun, Grand did everything he was supposed to do, and gave him the cigarettes. The man went and executed him and shot him point blank in the face.
“You won’t hear about these stories and some of the media won’t talk to you about it, but this is permanent separation. For his birthday I go to his grave. For Christmas, we set up a Christmas tree on Grant’s grave.
“I received something earlier today, from Director Holman, it’s a challenge coin and I want to thank you for that. To me this is a sign of integrity.
“I wish some of our media had the same integrity as our president and our vice president and as Director Holman and our law enforcement. I wish some of our media had the same integrity and I want to thank all of you, especially our law enforcement for what you do.
“Mr. President, Mr. Vice President, thank you. Members of VOICE, Barbara Gonzalez, John Fieri, AVIAC, I want to thank all of them too. They’re helping get the stories out.
“63,000 have been killed since 9/11 by illegal aliens. This isn’t a problem that’s going away. It’s getting bigger. Thank you.”
