Democratic presidential candidate possibility Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has long drawn ridicule for clinging to her claimed Native American heritage when her blonde-haired, blue-eyed appearance shows no trace of it.
And when she revealed on Monday that there does, indeed, exist “strong evidence” that she is between 1/64th and 1/1024 Native American, the mockery rolled in on an avalanche of memes and wisecracks — especially after the Cherokee Nation officially rebuked her for claiming herself to be one of them based on a DNA test.
But one Fox News contributor and former Republican congressman may have taken the cake, and he’s drawing quite a lot of laughs and outrage over it.
Jason Chaffetz, who used to represent the state of Utah in the U.S. House, posted a photo of himself posing with a statue of a Native American chief at Disneyland on Thursday and a caption that read: “At Disneyland today with Senator Elizabeth Warren.”
The vast majority of commenters on Twitter were outraged (with many of them blasting him with profanity-laden remarks):
Others got the joke that Chaffetz, who is far more an ethnic minority than Warren, was making:
What do you think of it?
