To say that the four days of Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings have been a circus would be an understatement.
But it hasn’t been Republicans making live footage of the process one of the most interesting things on TV this week. It’s been the ridiculous antics by Democratic leaders and their followers.
First there were the crazed protesters who, one-after-another, started yelling and screaming in hysteria at the top of their lungs, disrupting the hearings. That went on for a few days.
A viral photo, plus the testimonies of three Texas doctors, suggested that the protesters were actually paid to act up during the hearings and had little vested interest in protesting Kavanaugh for their own reasons.
Secondly, Democrat leaders involved in the hearings constantly interrupted opening statements and tried to bog down the whole process in general, insisting that they couldn’t move forward.
Then there was that ridiculous accusation that a Republican operative sitting behind Kavanaugh was flashing a white supremacist symbol. On Thursday, she got back at the left for that.
But we can’t forget Sen. Corey Booker’s (D-N.J.) embarrassing fiasco when he repeatedly announced to everyone that he was putting his job on the line by releasing confidential documents that would put Kavanaugh in a terrible light on racial issues. Then he found out that — oh, whoops — the documents weren’t confidential and actually made Kavanaugh look better.
Add to that all the claims beforehand that Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Court would “threaten the lives of millions of Americans” (former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe), be a “death sentence for thousands of women in the United States” (The Women’s March), and result in women being no longer allowed to vote (Booker, again), according to Investor’s Business Daily.
After all that, world-renowned evangelist Franklin Graham could no longer stay silent.
In fact, he came out swinging.
“After innumerable interruptions, outbursts, and rantings that some called a circus, the confirmation hearings for Judge Brett Kavanaugh are supposed to wrap up today,” Graham began on Facebook. “The disruptions from socialists and progressive extremists were relentless, rude, and unending.”
But then he added, “I have been impressed with Judge Kavanaugh’s steady temperament and his solid responses. His vast knowledge of case law and the U.S. Constitution is evident.”
Graham finished with a call to action for conservatives.
“There are a couple of things we can do,” he wrote. “We need to continue to pray for Judge Kavanaugh and his family during this time and for the outcome of this process. I also urge you to contact the two U.S. Senators in your state to ask them to confirm Judge Kavanaugh.”
