In a historic moment on Wednesday, former President George W. Bush eulogized another former president, his father, George H.W. Bush.
At one point, Bush revealed what happened when he was told his father had just minutes to live.
"Last Friday when I was told he had minutes to live, I called him,” Bush said. “I said 'Dad, I love you and you've been a wonderful father.”
He then shared his father’s last words:
“And the last words he would ever say on earth were, 'I love you, too.’”
Watch the touching moment below:
W. Bush eventually broke down in tears at the end of his eulogy for his father.
“We’re going to miss you, your decency, sincerity and kind soul will stay with us forever. So through our tears, let us know our blessings of knowing and loving you, a great and noble man. The best father a son or daughter could ask.”
The former president was then overcome with emotion. He needed to take a moment to compose himself during the emotional moment.
He ended his eulogy by taking solace in the fact that his father was now reunited with his wife, Barbara, and the child they lost decades ago.
“And in our grief, let us smile knowing that dad is hugging Robin and holding mom’s hand again,” Bush concluded.
Our prayers are with President Bush and his entire family.
