Former President George W. Bush gave a tearful eulogy to his father George H.W. Bush, also a former president, who passed away last week at the age of 94.
World leaders, former presidents and vice presidents, politicians and others gathered at the National Cathedral on Wednesday for the State Funeral of George H.W. Bush.
In his eulogy, George W. Bush shared fun stories of his father as well as life lessons he learned from him. At the end of his speech, Bush shared his joy that his father and mother are now reunited in heaven, along with his sister Robin, who passed away at just three years old from leukemia.
Watch the emotional conclusion in the video below. Pay close attention to what he does at the very end.
George W. Bush gave his father’s casket a gentle pat as he walked past, one final goodbye from one former president to another; from loving son to loving father.
Prior to the beginning of the funeral service, Bush had a more lighthearted moment with former first lady Michelle Obama.
Seated in the front row were all living former presidents as well as current president, Donald Trump. It made for an interesting dynamic front and center at the funeral service.
When the Bush family arrived, former President George W. Bush greeted President Trump, Melania, and the other former presidents and first ladies seated in the front row.
His actions when he greeted Michelle Obama has received special attention as he appeared to slip her something when shaking her hand.

Observers have identified the object as a candy or a mint, which Michelle accepted with a smile.
This candy-sharing moment is similar to a moment between Bush and Obama at Sen. John McCain’s funeral a few months ago. Take a look and see if you can spot the moment in the video below.
