The battle to save female athletics from liberals who are putting transgender athletes on a higher pedestal than girls and women is heating up after three female high school runners threatened legal action because they were forced to compete with biologically male runners.
16-year-old Selna Soule, who was pushed to a lower place finish by two male runners and lost her chance to compete in the New England regionals, is continuing to bravely speak out against what she sees as the imminent destruction of her sport and the decimation of the athletic dreams that she and other girls share.
She was even recently featured in a powerful video by the Daily Signal about how her dreams of being a female Olympian are being destroyed by male athletes who identify as female.
“No one thinks it’s fair because we all know that males are physically stronger than females and they compete at a higher level,” Selina, the daughter of a Romania immigrant, told The Daily Signal. “In those meets, there’s no way that one of us biological girls will be able to outrun those transgender athletes.”
Now Soule has joined two other female high school athletes from Connecticut — who kept their identities anonymous — in filing a discrimination complaint with the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights. They are working with the conservative Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) nonprofit organization on trying to get some changes made.
In the official complaint, they argued that they, like “large numbers of girls around the nation,” work hard to “shave mere fractions of a second” off their race times. But those efforts go to waste when they’re forced to compete against “boys who are male in every biological and physiological respect.”
They argued that their dreams and goals, as well as their opportunities to be recruited and offered athletic scholarships by colleges, are being destroyed by the new “discriminatory policy” that results in “boys displacing girls in competitive track events in Connecticut.”
The new policy has already resulted in “more boys than girls” getting the opportunities that come with winning high school competitions. And they argued that it’s in violation of Title IX, which was put in place in 1972 to try to ensure that females are not discriminated against in sports.
The ADF also argued that being denied opportunities to compete in sports can have an effect on females’ entire lives because “the competitive drive and spirit taught by athletics is one of those ‘skills’ that carry over and contribute to lifetime success in the workplace.”
In the Daily Signal video, Soule previously revealed that “I think it’s gotten to the point where some girls are starting to stray away from those events” where transgender athletes are competing.
“No one doubts that top male and female high school athletes are equally committed to excelling in their sport, and train equally hard,” the official complaint argued. “Yet boys consistently run faster times than girls in the same events.”
They gave an example of 6-time Olympic gold medalist track athlete Allyson Felix who has a 400-meter time that was still beat by “275 high school boys ran faster on 783 occasions” last year.
That’s a stark contrast.
The complaint demands that biological males be kept out of all-female sports in Connecticut and that the standings be changed for competitions in the last three years where biological males competed against females.
“Eventually, it’s going to get to the point where the biological females will be on the sidelines, watching their own sports,” Soule previously warned about the way things are headed.
