Many Democrats, especially the ones running for president, have been very hesitant to criticize any aspect of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ Green New Deal, despite the fact that it would radically change the lives of every American and destroy our country’s prosperity and leadership role in the world.
In fact, it’s just plain ridiculous and unworkable throughout its lengthy list of goals.
One prominent environmentalist, though, is having no problem ripping the plan and its creator to shreds. According to Fox News, Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore, 72, went on a Twitter tirade against the young socialist congresswoman this past weekend.
Calling himself a sensible environmentalist that relies on science and logic, not sensation and fear, Moore wrote to Ocasio-Cortez late last month: “Pompous little twit. You don’t have a plan to grow food for 8 billion people without fossil fuels, or get the food into the cities. Horses? If fossil fuels were banned every tree in the world would be cut down for fuel for cooking and heating. You would bring about mass death.”
He followed that up on Saturday with: “It seems many people agree that @AOC is a bit too big for her britches. I'm in good company here. @POTUS is right to encourage her to keep blathering insanity. There can't be 5% who support giving up planes, hamburgers, gasoline, and reliable electricity.”
“Arrogance plus ignorance (of science, technology, history, etc.) is a recipe for disaster, especially when the person delivering it is so outwardly attractive,” Moore wrote on Sunday. “Unfortunately there is an immature bully inside who would stop at nothing to gain control.”
“@AOC probably never thought about basic food production as it is always there for her in the supermarket,” he continued. “She didn't know she was prescribing mass death but at least now she has been advised.”
After it was revealed that Ocasio-Cortez, who wants to get rid of gas-powered cars in ten years, spent a bunch of campaign money on gas-guzzling vehicle transportation when she could have easily used a train, Moore wrote, “Just like Al Gore and [Leonardo Dicaprio], and about a million other effete elites. Do as I say, not as I do.”
Replying to someone defending Ocasio-Cortez’ plan to replace all coal, gas, and nuclear power plants with renewable energy, Moore wrote, “Which sort of ‘cleaner renewable energy’ do you refer to? Wind and solar? Happy to be without power for a week or two in the winter? These are not scare tactics. We can't produce and deliver food to 8 billion people with horses. Give me your magic formula.”
He also warned America that people like Ocasio-Cortez “are going for the jugular of civilization.”
“It is a green jihad with no compromise.”
As for Ocasio-Cortez calling tackling climate change “our World War II,” the Greenpeace co-founder wrote, “Isn't @AOC a bit young to talk about WW2? It was Hell & more than 60 million died. It's her @GND that would be worse than WW2. Imagine no fuel for cars, trucks, tractors, combines, harvesters, power-plants, ships, aircraft, etc. Transport of people & goods would grind to a halt.”
He also supported President Trump’s action of pulling the U.S. out of the Paris Accord, writing, “The Paris ‘Accord’ is a total sham. China, India and Russia, 40% of global population, ignore it, along with most other countries. The USA is at least honest in pulling out of this fake deal. Fossil fuels are >80% of the energy supply to run the country, and the world.”
And he didn’t stay silent on the congresswoman suggesting recently that it might be more moral to not have kids.
“Back in my day some of my friends decided not to have children due to the threat of nuclear war and the predictions of environmental doom,” Moore wrote. “Now they regret making that decision. Too late.”
Moore is no longer involved with Greenpeace and reminded everyone on Sunday that, “I left @Greenpeace 33 years ago because they were hijacked by eco-fascists.”
