CNN commentator Marc Lamont Hill justified the recent assault on a teen Trump supporter at a Whataburger restaurant in a series of disturbing tweets.
Police in San Antonio, Texas, arrested 30-year-old Kino Jimenez on Thursday after he was caught on video ripping 16-year-old Hunter Richard’s “Make America Great Again” hat off of his head and tossing a drink in his face. He was charged with "theft of person," a felony.
Hill apparently thought the assault was hilarious.
"Wish I could take the high road. But your MAGA hat reads like a swastika to me. So ummm ... hmmm. Yeah. Maybe I’m no longer a decent person," TMZ staffer Van Lathan tweeted.
In response to the tweet above, Hill responded with three laughing emojis.
When confronted about his response, Hill attempted to explain his views on Trump supporters being publicly assaulted.
“I actually don’t advocate throwing drinks on people. Not at all. But yes, i think MAGA hats (deliberately) reflect a movement that conjures racism, homophobia, xenophobia, etc. So yes, it’s a little harder to feel sympathy when someone gets Coca Cola thrown on him,” he tweeted.
