Actor James Cromwell was honored at the fourth annual Carney Awards for his performances as a character actor in movies such as “The Green Mile” and “The Sum of All Fears.”
The veteran actor, however, has been a political activist for his entire career and had some choice words for the current political climate and President Donald Trump.
“This is nascent fascism. We always had a turnkey, totalitarian state – all we needed was an excuse, and all the institutions were in place to turn this into pure fascism,” said Cromwell. “If we don’t stop [President Trump] now, then we will have a revolution for real. Then there will be blood in the streets.”
“We’re living in very curious times, and something is coming up which is desperately important to this country and to this planet, and that is an election, in which hopefully in some measure we are going to take back our democracy,” Cromwell continued.
“We will have a government that represents us and not the donor class. We will cut through the corruption, [and] we won’t have to do what comes next, which is either a non-violent revolution or a violent one, because this has got to end.”
This isn’t the only anti-Trump entertainment news of the week either.
The CBS show “The Big Bang Theory” is one of the most popular shows on television today, and its producer, Chuck Lorre, is known for his strong dislike of President Donald Trump.
Lorre is well-known for inserting a special message for a brief moment at the end of the show that viewers at home can read if they pause their DVRs.
The message that was shown after the October 25 episode was a “prayer” to God asking Him to punish supporters of President Trump, who he called “a fascist, hate-filled, fear-mongering, demagogic, truth-shattering, autocratic golf cheater.”
Here is the message that was shown at the conclusion of the episode.
“God, (I call you that even though I suspect thou art well beyond names and words and might actually be some sort of ineffable quantum situation), I humbly beseech thee to make thy presence known on November 6th. Demonstrate your omnipotence through us as we make ink marks on little circles in curtained booths.
“Of course if you, in your divine wisdom, believe a fascist, hate-filled, fear-mongering, demagogic, truth-shattering, autocratic golf cheater is what we need right now, then, you know, thy will be done.
“But if thou art inclined to more freedom, more love, more compassion, and just more of the good stuff thou hath been promoting in our hearts or our parietal lobes - either one, doesn’t really matter - I submissively ask that thy encourage voter turnout in that general direction.
“Also God, please help Bob Mueller. Guide him and make him strong, brave, wise and true. And yes, I know there must be thousands of guys named Bob Mueller, so why not help them all, just to be on the safe side. Amen.
“Oh, almost forgot, remind those who collaborate with the darkness that thou art the light, and the light is not above whipping out a little Old Testament wrath. Amen again.”
