Americans were disgusted, but not shocked, on Sunday when Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) took the side of Hamas after the terror-linked group fired rockets at Israeli civilians.
“How many more protesters must be shot, rockets must be fired, and little kids must be killed until the endless cycle of violence ends?” Omar tweeted.
She continued: “The status quo of occupation and humanitarian crisis in Gaza is unsustainable. Only real justice can bring about security and lasting peace.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said militants in Gaza fired approximately 600 rockets towards Israel. In response, Israel launched "massive attacks against terrorist elements.”
Watch the video of the rockets being fired at Israel's Iron Dome:
Given that Israel appeared to have acted in self-defense, Americans were outraged that Omar still sided with Hamas elements in Gaza.
Liz Cheney broke it down like this:
"1. Hamas controls Gaza.
2. Hamas is firing rockets at civilians in Israel.
3. @IlhanMN is defending Hamas.
Real question is how many times will @IlhanMN rush to the defense of terrorists?"
"Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005. There is no occupation. The humanitarian crisis and the violence is all created by Hamas, a terrorist group which victimizes Israelis and Palestinians. Your attempt to blame Israel for the violence Hamas crates is telling and deplorable," another Twitter user wrote.
It's hard to believe that Omar is a sitting member of United States Congress.
