Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) might have thought she was scoring major political points with Millennials when she used emojis to argue for a $15 an hour minimum wage, but it netted her a massive amount of mockery instead.
Omar was replying to Talk Poverty editor-in-chief Mara Pellittieri’s argument that forcing businesses to more than double the federal minimum wage would help the economy more than help it.
The young congresswoman decided to reinforce her argument in the form of stick figure protest emojis, stating that, “People make more money when you raise their wages.”
In reply, a bunch of people destroyed her argument in the same fashion. And it’s hilarious.
