Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) blamed the United States of the crisis in Venezuela on Wednesday and refused to condemn the Maduro regime for running over civilians in tanks and allegedly shooting at protesters.
“A lot of the policies that we have put in place has kind of helped lead the devastation in Venezuela,” Omar. “We’ve sort of set the stage for where we are arriving today.”
She continued: “This particular bullying and the use of sanctions to eventually intervene and make regime change really does not help the people of countries like Venezuela… and it is not in the interest of the United States.
Watch the jaw-dropping video below:
Venezuela is currently collapsing under the weight of socialism and the dictatorship of the Maduro regime.
“I am monitoring the situation in Venezuela very closely. The United States stands with the People of Venezuela and their Freedom!” President Donald Trump tweeted on Tuesday.
Trump’s national security adviser John Bolton expressed his support for the citizens rising up against the socialist regime.
“The people of Venezuela continue to make it clear they are done with Maduro and are taking to the streets to loudly and unequivocally demand the return of their democracy and prosperity from the corrupt dictatorship that stole it from them. We stand with the people of Venezuela,” Bolton tweeted.
Meanwhile, the Maduro regime continues to terrorize its population, which was effectively disarmed via a gun ban in 2012. The government even reportedly utilizes "death squads" to stomp out opposition.
"Described by human rights groups as 'death squads,' they carried out over 200 killings in 2018, most in massacres of up to nine people at a time, according to the NGO Provea," the Telegraph reported.
Pray for the people of Venezuela.
