The Muslim man arrested at a New Mexico compound last week was allegedly training children to carry out school shootings, according to newly released court documents.
Siraj Ibn Wahhaj, 39, allegedly provided weapons training to children, who were found by police starving and living in filth at the extremist compound. Wahhaj is currently being held without bail.
Law enforcement officials were led to the compound during the search for a 3-year-old boy, Wahhaj’s son, who disappeared in Georgia in December.
Wahhaj allegedly told the boy’s mother that he needed to perform an exorcism on his son because he was “possessed by the devil.” In reality, the boy was ill and suffered seizures.
“On Monday, a child's remains were found on the property, but authorities were working on a positive identification and did not confirm if the remains were that of the missing boy,” Fox News reported.
Authorities believe the New Mexico compound was an extremist Muslim in nature.
Siraj Ibn Wahhaj is the son of a Brooklyn imam of the same name who was identified as an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. In other words, terrorism seems to run in his family.
Fox News also noted, “The elder Wahhaj, who heads Masjid At-Taqwa mosque, was a character witness in the trial for Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, the notorious ‘blind sheikh’ who was convicted in 1995 of plotting terror attacks in the U.S.”: Report
