The tables have seemingly been turned as a federal judge has ordered Special Counsel Robert Mueller to turn over all of his secret documents pertaining to the questioning of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
"One day after former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's legal team made the bombshell allegation that the FBI had pushed him not to bring a lawyer to his fateful Jan. 24, 2017 interview with agents at the White House, the federal judge overseeing Flynn's criminal case is demanding answers from Special Counsel Robert Mueller,” Fox News reported.
The report added: “U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan ordered Mueller late Wednesday to turn over all of the government's documents and ‘memoranda’ related to Flynn's questioning. The extraordinary demand puts Mueller under the microscope, and sets a 3:00 p.m. EST Friday deadline for the special counsel's office to produce the sensitive FBI documents.”
The judge is seemingly attempted to find out why the FBI used much more aggressive tactics with Flynn compared to interviews with Hillary Clinton and other officials.
Judge Sullivan’s surprise move may delay Flynn’s sentencing in a case where he pleaded guilty to lying to federal authorities.
Trump weighed in on the controversial case on Thursday, alleging the FBI mistreated Flynn.
“They gave General Flynn a great deal because they were embarrassed by the way he was treated - the FBI said he didn’t lie and they overrode the FBI,” Trump tweeted.
He added: “They want to scare everybody into making up stories that are not true by catching them in the smallest of misstatements. Sad!”
This case appears to be far from over.
