White House adviser Kellyanne Conway confronted a CNN reporter outside the White House on Tuesday over a misleading viral photo of detained migrant children. The photo showed two children laying down inside of a caged area.
While some used the photo to attack President Donald Trump, it quickly emerged that the photo was taken when Barack Obama was still president in 2014. The attack backfired in a major way.
Conway made sure not to let CNN off the hook.
“Your CNN colleague retweeted that two migrant children, I suppose, laying in a cage, to make the point against this president, it happened under President Obama’s watch,” she said. “Then [he] deleted the tweet because it didn’t fit the narrative. Do you or do you not care about the migrant children?”

President Trump personally addressed the issue in a tweet on Tuesday.
"Democrats mistakenly tweet 2014 pictures from Obama’s term showing children from the Border in steel cages. They thought it was recent pictures in order to make us look bad, but backfires," he wrote. "Dems must agree to Wall and new Border Protection for good of country...Bipartisan Bill!"
This was a classic case of "fake news."
