Rachel Dolezal, rejected Leftist step-child and a white woman who identifies as black, is back in the headlines after being charged with welfare fraud.
Dolezal was charged with making a false verification statement and second-degree perjury. She is accused of receiving more than $8,800 in food and childcare assistance illegally between 2015 and 2017.
Dolezal, the former Spokane NAACP president, made headlines a few years ago after it was revealed that she was actually a white woman pretending to be black. She even had changed her name to Nkechi Diallo.
Her parents, with whom she had been in a long feud with, informed reporters that their daughter was a white woman presenting herself as a black activist.
Dolezal had claimed to be receiving less than $500 per month but a subpoena of her bank statements revealed that she had deposited over $80,000 into her account from 2015 to 2017.
The money came from book sales from her autobiography “In Full Color,” speaking engagements, and other sources according to the case file.
Dolezal grew up near Troy, Montana and decided to identify as black a number of years after her parents adopted four black children.
After her true identity was revealed, she resigned as Spokane NAACP president, was kicked off the police oversight commission, lost a position with a weekly newspaper, and was fired from her job teaching African studies at Eastern Washington University.
