A second female Democrat is throwing her name into the ring to challenge President Trump in 2020, and many liberals are not happy one bit about it.
According to CNN, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) announced her candidacy on Friday during an interview on “The Van Jones Show.”
"I have decided to run and will be making a formal announcement within the next week," the 37-year-old American Samoa native said.
Gabbard, an Iraq War veteran, used to serve as the vice-chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee and is currently on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. She’s pro-choice, anti-interventionist, an environmental activist, a Bernie support, and a Hindu.
She’s not feeling a lot of love from liberals for putting herself out there as a possibility to challenge Trump, though. They let their thoughts be known loud and clear on Twitter.
Her announcement drew fewer — and mixed — reactions from conservatives. A number of leading conservative voices, while not supportive of her as a politician, did praise her defense of religious liberty this week.
