Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh warned his nationwide listeners on Monday that one Democratic presidential candidate “could be very dangerous” to President Trump’s 2020 campaign.
Rush said he’s heard Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) speak before and thought she came across as intellectually lazy, but when speaking from a teleprompter, she comes across as frighteningly reminiscent of a recent Democrat victor: President Obama.
Even though she’s as “madcap and insane as [Alexandria Ocasio-]Cortez,” Rush said, Harris “seemed competent” at her Oakland rally over the weekend with her “style” and “appearance.” With her words written beforehand, Rush said the “female Barack Obama” was like a “totally different person” in front of the crowd of 20,000.
“She looked comfortable, confident. She looked like she belonged there, in her own mind,” he continued.
“She sounded good, too,” he added. “Her voice sounds good, her intonation sounds good, voice is pleasant. The overall look, just the look was such there was nothing to pick apart, other than the substance, other than her ideology. And we know that [picking apart] didn’t work on Obama.”
Rush added that he and many others warned the nation about Obama’s liberal ideas, but so many people voted for him because they didn’t want to be seen as racist, they wanted to do something historical, they hated the Iraq war, and Sen. John McCain “was a walking mistake as a candidate.”
“She may be intellectually deficient, and she may be as radical as the Weather Underground like Obama was,” Rush said of Harris. “But she doesn’t look it and she doesn’t sound it.”
“Hillary Clinton looked like a rank amateur old maid compared to Kamala Harris.”
With a written speech, Rush said, “I’m just telling you, she [Harris] could be very dangerous.”
For Democrats, he explained, the very pro-abortion Harris “checks off a lot of boxes: Female, African-American, identity politics extraordinaire.”
But there are two big things that could be disastrous for Harris.
One, she’s out in front of the growing pack of Democratic candidates too early.
“Year and a half, two years out, you don’t want to be the first one,” Rush explained. “There’s nowhere to go from there but down.”
Two, if former First Lady Michelle Obama runs, it will be “Kamala Who?” for the Democratic Party. Rush believes the Democratic operatives are “surveying the land” for a possible Michelle run.
