A massive manhunt has been underway since Wednesday for an armed and dangerous man that U.S. Marshals say has threatened to kill President Trump.
According to CBS Pittsburgh, authorities are searching for 26-year-old Shawn Christy, who reportedly threatened to “put a bullet in the head of President Trump.” He allegedly posted the now-deleted threat on Facebook.
Christy is from McAddo, Pennsylvania, between Scranton and Allentown. He’s previously gotten in trouble for threatening former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin. His father was sentenced for doing the same thing.
Christy made the threat while also threatening to shoot someone else he was communicating with on Facebook. According to WBRE, his father was the one who reported him.
"Said he was going to shoot the president. And that's when I called the Secret Service," Craig Christy said.
Authorities are taking the threat seriously.
"The Marshal service feels that Shawn Christy is a clear and present danger and that's why we've deployed all of our resources up here in McAdoo in an attempt to locate and apprehend Christy," explained Robert Clark of the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force. "It's just something we're not going to take a chance of not taking seriously.”
His dad believes he’s hiding out the woods and added that he’s made threats against law enforcement officers. Police have been carefully combing the area. The U.S. Marshals have offered a $5,000 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to Christy’s arrest.
This is going on the same day that First Lady Melania Trump had to call the U.S. Secret Service after actor Peter Fonda threatened grievous harm to her son Barron.
