On Saturday, thousands and thousands of men, women, and children gathered across the nation, claiming to celebrate all women. Two days later, a liberal media outlet referred to First Lady Melania Trump as a “plastic waste of space.”
The Bipartisan Report, which seems to be about as bipartisan as a totalitarian regime, wrote a mocking headline entitled “Melania Tweets 8-Word MLK Day Message Like A Plastic Waste Of Space” on Monday. It made fun of the simple message the first lady sent out on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Just for the record, Media Bias/Fact Check ranks the Bipartisan Report as extreme left propaganda, so such a headline shouldn’t be too surprising. It illustrates a trend, though.
The lack of respect for Melania in an era where men are increasingly accused of disrespecting women comes in a time when the international Women’s March, which claims to celebrate all women, actually excludes many.
In an opinion piece written for U.S. News & World Report right before the first Women’s March the day after President Trump’s inauguration, the “progressive feminists” in the march were chided for excluding pro-life women. It was revealed that one of the sponsors of the event was removed for being pro-life, even though they were anti-Trump.
“Sadly there is no room for a pro-life group at a march representing and celebrating the diversity of feminism,” wrote opinion contributor Ashley Pratte. “The progressive feminists tend to believe all women think and feel the way they do when in fact differing opinions on the issue should be welcomed and encouraged.”
According to a Knight’s of Columbus/Marist poll conducted that month, 41% of women in the U.S. consider themselves to be pro-life. That’s a lot of women to exclude from a march that’s named after them.
Add to that the poll results that show that only 13% of women are in favor of abortions being performed at any time during the pregnancy. 10% more think abortion should be illegal in the third trimester. That leaves more than three-quarters of women in America who range from believing abortion should be only allowed in the first trimester to believing it should not be allowed in any circumstance.
Aside from abortion, the Women’s March also touts a cavalcade of other liberal women’s issues with far fewer signs supporting conservative values, even though only a small majority of women “consider themselves Democrats or lean Democratic,” according to Vox.
Yet women like Melania only seem to matter to the liberals that run events like the Women’s March if they agree to fall in line and conform to the progressive dogma of the day.
