Meghan McCain exploded on Joy Behar on “The View” Tuesday after her co-host actually defended so-called “Democratic socialism.”
Behar lit the fuse when she asked the astonishing question, “Isn’t Democratic socialism very close to liberalism?”
When co-host Sunny Hostin attempted to normalize Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s socialist views, including “housing as a human right,” McCain hit back hard.
Watch the intense segment below:
“This makes my head explode,” McCain said. “By the way, I hope the Democrats do run a Democratic socialist.”
“Do you want the Democrats to beat Trump?” Behar asked mockingly.
“No, because I think you’ll lose spectacularly,” McCain shot back. “And then I’ll look forward to election night when I get to tell everyone ‘I told you so’ if you end up running a radical.”
McCain then pointed out the biggest problem with socialism: “At a certain point, you run out of spending other people’s money.” She pointed to Venezuela as a prime example of socialism turning a once prosperous country into a poverty-stricken mess.
“It’s petrifying to me that this is being normalized,” McCain said.
Behar made it clear that she thinks the U.S. government is very efficient at spending taxpayer dollars and could run the same as small socialist European nations, an idea that McCain called “delusional.”
Eventually, Whoopi Goldberg had to end the segment as McCain and Behar screamed over each other.
It brought back memories of Whoopi's battle with Judge Jeanine last week, which quite literally shut down the show.
