First Lady Melania Trump has received a clean bill of health to fly overseas with her husband on his next big trip. This follows an over-six-week hiatus from travel following a kidney surgery.
Many people across the nation prayed for Melania, but others concocted nasty rumors about her three weeks out of the public spotlight during her recovery. President Trump scolded the mainstream media for spreading those completely baseless rumors.
“The Fake News Media has been so unfair, and vicious, to my wife and our great First Lady, Melania. During her recovery from surgery they reported everything from near death, to facelift, to left the W.H. (and me) for N.Y. or Virginia, to abuse. All Fake, she is doing really well!” the president tweeted at the time.
Under doctor’s orders, the first lady was unable to accompany her husband on two of his biggest trips of the year — his meeting with North Korean’ dictator Kim Jong Un and the G-7 summit in Canada, according to the Washington Examiner. She has previously traveled with Trump on a number of international trips, wowing people with her grace and fashion.
The White House confirmed that Melania will be joining Trump on his next overseas trip but has not yet released her itinerary. The president’s itinerary will begin with a July 11-12 NATO meeting in Brussels, Belgium.
The White House also announced on Thursday that Trump will be heading to Helsinki, Finland on July 16 for a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to the Examiner, this will be their first meeting centered on U.S.-Russia relations.
"The two leaders will discuss relations between the United States and Russia and a range of national security issues," White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders explained.
