President Trump and First Lady Melania, as well as First Daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner, met with the Queen of England on Monday during their official state visit to the UK.
Melania and Ivanka particularly caught people’s attention with their stunning attire.
The first lady wore what CNN described as a white crepe dress with a navy blue collar, belt, and pumps. She also wore a white wide-brimmed hat, tilted at a rakish angle, and adorned by a navy sash.
While the dress was designed by Dolce & Gabbana, an Italian fashion house, the hat was put together by Melania’s personal wardrobe designer Hervé Pierre.
Many people saw her attire as an homage to Princess Diana.
Melania stunned again later that day in her evening gown.
Trump and Melania were greeted by Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla as they disembarked from their helicopter. The prince and duchess have invited the Trumps to their special residence to discuss the future relationship between the countries.
Charles, who did not meet with the Trumps last year during their British visit, will play a “full and prominent” role in the arrangements of their three-day trip. The Daily Mail noted that former presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush were never extended a tea invitation to Charles’ and Camilla’s Clarence House.
Charles is next in line to the British throne. Richard Kay for the Daily Mail believes that “the Trump meeting is a defining moment in Charles’ preparation to be king.” He’s no fan of the U.S. president, but he’s expected to put that aside as he looks to a future relationship with Trump between the allied nations.
Ivanka also wore a white dress and hat while touring Westminster Abbey with Jared.
She switched to a different dress later that night for Buckingham Palace.
