First Lady Melania Trump took a few weeks off from public appearances — and that was enough to set off the media and internet into a whirlwind of speculation.
CNN even reported that the first lady hadn't appeared in public for 20 days, leading to even more speculation as to her whereabouts.
"Still, conspiracy theorists abound. Is the first lady OK, asks Twitter? Where is she? Why the long disappearance from public view?" CNN reported.
The guessing game was only intensified due to the fact that Melania Trump recently underwent kidney surgery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for a benign condition.
However, she ended the rumor-mongering on Wednesday with a strongly worded tweet.
"I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I'm doing," she tweeted. "Rest assured, I'm here at the @WhiteHouse w my family, feeling great, & working hard on behalf of children & the American people!"
Stephanie Grisham, a spokesperson for Melania Trump, confirmed the first lady is doing just fine, despite what you might have read on the internet. Some of the conspiracy theories included that Melania had moved back to New York City or there was some other underlying issue.
"Sadly, we deal with conspiracy theories all the time -- so this is nothing new, just more silly nonsense," she said.
Politico also reported that the directive for privacy came directly from the first lady.
