First Lady Melania Trump’s office issued a scathing response to TBS host Samantha Bee’s nasty attack on Ivanka Trump, calling out the media for its “astounding” double standard.
In an exclusive statement to the Daily Caller, Melania Trump’s official spokesperson, Stephanie Grisham, blasted the media over the continued mistreatment of President Donald Trump and the entire Trump family.
“The double standard is truly astounding. Time and again the Trump family and members of this Administration are subjected to false reporting, hateful rhetoric and outrageous lies all in the name of freedom of speech or comedy, yet the mainstream media stays silent,” Grisham told the website.
Bee sparked outrage on Wednesday night when she referred to Ivanka Trump as a “feckless c**t” during a monologue on "Full Frontal With Samantha Bee" about the president’s immigration policies.
"You know, Ivanka, that's a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your dad's immigration practices, you feckless c**t,” Bee said on the air.
The vile attack was over this innocent photo of Ivanka holding her 2-year-old son.
Since then, Bee has apologized and called her own words "inappropriate and inexcusable."
"I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it," she said in a tweet.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders also issued a scorching statement demanding action from TBS and Time Warner over their employee's "disgusting comments" that were not "fit for broadcast."
“The language used by Samantha Bee last night is vile and vicious. The collective silence by the left and its media allies is appalling,” Sanders said.
So far, TBS has only apologized and argued Bee has "taken the right action" for the "vile and inappropriate language" she used to attack Ivanka Trump. However, the company did not indicate further disciplinary action would take place.
However, Autotrader also announced on Thursday that it was suspending its advertisements on Bee's show.
Did TBS handle this controversy correctly?
