First Lady Melania Trump sparked a media meltdown on Thursday when she wore a jacket with a message printed on the back before visiting a migrant detention facility in McAllen, Texas.
Printed on the back of the green jacket are the words, “I Really Don’t Care, Do You?”
Critics speculated that Melania Trump was sending some sort of a hidden “message” on immigration. A spokesperson for the first lady, Stephanie Grisham, hit back at the media for focusing on her fashion choices instead of the real reason behind her trip to Texas.
"Today’s visit w the children in Texas impacted @flotus greatly. If media would spend their time & energy on her actions & efforts to help kids - rather than speculate & focus on her wardrobe - we could get so much accomplished on behalf of children,” Grisham tweeted.
Regardless of people's opinion on the matter, Melania Trump made it clear that she would not be bullied by the media outrage.
Before Melania Trump arrived back home and stepped off a plane in Washington, D.C., she put the jacket back on. It was a clear and savage message to the media.
She's owning it. Many in the media were stunned.
President Donald Trump also weighed in on the so-called controversy and revealed the true meaning behind the message on his wife's jacket.
"'I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?' written on the back of Melania’s jacket, refers to the Fake News Media," Trump tweeted. "Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!"
Slay, Melania. Slay.
