Weeks ago, CNN’s Jim Acosta lectured President Donald Trump about the migrant caravan that was heading for the U.S.-Mexico border, telling him it was not an “invasion” and there would be no lawlessness.
“As you know, Mr. President, the caravan was not an invasion, it’s a group of migrants moving up from Central America towards the border with the U.S.,” Acosta said. “Why did you characterize it as such?”
“Because I consider it an invasion. You and I have a difference of opinion,” Trump responded.
That’s when Acosta criticized Trump’s campaign for using an ad showing migrants climbing over the border wall.
“They’re not going to be doing that,” Acosta lectured. “They are hundreds of miles away.”
However, that’s exactly what ended up happening.
Watch some of the video footage below:
Members of the migrant caravan were caught on video throwing rocks and bottles at Border Patrol agents and attempting to storm into the United States illegally.
“Today, several migrants threw projectiles at the agents in San Diego. Border Patrol agents deployed tear gas to dispel the group because of the risk to agents' safety. Several agents were hit by the projectiles,” CBP said in a statement.
Trump responded furiously on Monday.
“Mexico should move the flag waving Migrants, many of whom are stone cold criminals, back to their countries,” Trump tweeted. “Do it by plane, do it by bus, do it anyway you want, but they are NOT coming into the U.S.A. We will close the Border permanently if need be. Congress, fund the WALL!”
Should President Trump shut down the border until it can be secured?
