Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte was visibly stunned by the “lack of decorum” displayed by the American press during a meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday.
As reporters screamed questions at the president as they were ordered to leave the room, Rutte just had to ask Trump one question.
“Is it always like this?” he asked.
All President Trump could do is crack a smile.
Watch the interesting exchange below:
“At the end of the photo op, PM Rutte was clearly amused as press aides shouted loudly at the press pool to clear out of the Oval Office. ‘Is it always like this?’ Rutte asked Pres Trump, clearly in disbelief at the lack of decorum,” Knoller tweeted. “Even Trump cracked a smile.”
Reporters, like CNN's Jim Acosta, have made it a habit to scream questions at President Trump when he's not actually taking questions.
Most recently, Acosta was roasted by the internet after he yelled out a combative question at the president from a distance during a round of applause. There is little to no chance the president could have heard him.
"I tried to ask the president if he would stop calling us the enemy of the people. He did not respond," Acosta tweeted.
Trump and Rutte discussed the administration's new tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Canada, Mexico and the European Union. Trump is set to meet with EU officials to work on a resolution to the trade dispute.
“The relationship between the Netherlands and the United States is over 400 years old. We are allies. We have always been friends, always been friendly, working closely together," Rutte said to Trump.
